DIY Build Process

EXCAVATION

The excavation process begins once you have checked the site measurements and confirmed those are as per drawings. After the outlines are in place it’s time for the exciting work to begin: making space in your garden for your new pool. When hiring the excavator, hire a compatible dumper as well and make sure that there is enough access to easily get rid of the soil.

PREPARATION OF THE POOL BASE

Once the excavation process has been completed, you will need to put a layer of MOT type 1 for drainage and also sand if you are installing a one-piece pool. For liner pools, its enough to lay a layer of screed at the bottom, and for tiled pools, you would need to pour a concrete raft.

BUILDING POOL WALLS

Once the floor is done, you build the walls either with polymer panels or ICF blocks, and then lay concrete to support. The pool fittings and plumbing around the pool also go in at the same time.

INSTALLING POOL FINISH

The pool liner kit in our liner pools is suitable to be cut and fixed on site, ensuring a snug fit and easily accommodating for steps etc. If it is a tiled pool, put the layer of waterproofing first and then tile.

POOL EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION

Once the finish is installed, run all plumbing around the pool to the plant room and install the pool filter and pump so that when you start filling up the pool you can start filtering the water as well.

BACKFILL AROUND POOL

The backfilling stage is crucial to ensuring that your pool stays in place. The space around the pool is gradually backfilled using either a dry concrete mixture or gravel. How you backfill the space around your pool matters, you must simultaneously fill the pool and the gap between its outer layer and the excavated hole. This is to ensure that the pressure being exerted on the walls remains balanced.
