  How Polypool works for you

Polypool is at the forefront of technology in an industry that generally uses very traditional methods. You will find from researching the Internet that many companies and swimming pool equipment suppliers will only offer out of date options in terms of swimming pool construction methods.

Concrete and tiled, block and liner and even one piece fibreglass (GRP) pools are all very much 20 year old technology and offer very few benefits in terms of capital outlay, build time/logistics, heating and maintenance costs.

You may encounter during hours or days of trawling the web that you are faced with a multitude of choices and options, which a lot of our customers find daunting and very confusing.

We know that at some point certain mis-informed individuals for reasons fuelled by ignorance and the desperation to sell you the only product available to them will attempt to play down or indeed rubbish the energy saving properties of the Polypool range products.

It is universally accepted that a major proportion of the heat loss suffered is from the surface of a swimming pool. We accept this and whilst this is correct it is also a fact that every swimming pool should be covered when not in use. This is even more important if the swimming pool is indoors as heat savings could be as much as 66% for a covered pool alone compared to a uncovered pool. The fact that the pool walls are insulated Polypool panels is even more advantageous in terms of reducing your energy bills.

The Polypool wall panels are injected with 125mm or 75mm (depending on the application) of high density closed cell polyurethane foam. This therefore does not allow moisture to penetrate the material and creates the perfect thermal break between the pool water and the ground surrounding the pool shell. The differential between the pool water temperature and the ground temperature is where the major heat loss from the swimming pool is suffered once the pool is covered. This can be for up to 20 hours in any given 24 hour period.

The savings on heating are greater in certain conditions such as indoor pools, which are run pretty much 24/7 throughout the year and if the site is suffering from a high water table.

Other suppliers and pool installers/contractors do not understand this concept and furthermore do not have the technology or the scientific research available to them to confirm or disprove the effectiveness and efficiency of the Polypool concept; "WE DO!"

Our extensive research and development program spanning many years and at a cost of many thousands of Pounds have culminated in two major documents:

• A report by a physicist at Southampton University who is a leading expert in U values and heat losses
in construction conclusively states that Polypool offers the best energy efficiency currently available to
  the swimming pool industry

• An even more recent study of the specific heat transfer into the ground was set up on an actual indoor   Polypool project. Probes have been placed in the ground at strategic locations around the swimming pool
to monitor the pool water temperature, ground temperature at various depths and distances from the
Polypool walls and data is being extracted and analysed on an ongoing basis. This study is already
producing staggering results and this allows us to calculate much more reliable and accurate formulae in
order to translate this information into hard facts such as actual annual running costs and heat savings
compared with other types of swimming pool structures.

We at DIY swimming pools and Polypool have worked in tandem for many years and have put together research and data to support our argument. No one else in the swimming pool industry has this information nor indeed has been proactive or technologically advanced enough to discover it, most of which actually relies on common sense and basic laws of physics.

It is our duty to inform our potential and existing customers that NO other panel pool system on the market is insulated as standard nor can any other pool kit or concrete/blockwork structure be effectively retro-fitted with an insulator to achieve the results Polypool already delivers.

Installing open cell material (such as Celotex, Jablite or similar) behind a concrete, blockwork, polymer panel pool or fibreglass shell is a pointless exercise for the pure and simple reason that it will NOT work. Open cell insulation will take in moisture from the ground around the pool structure and this will in fact accelerate the heat transfer between the pool water and the ground, resulting in unnecessarily high heating bills for your swimming pool.

We have over 30 years experience in swimming pool design and construction and as a customer of ours why take a "leap of faith" when we have already done all the background work and head scratching for you.

There is no other product available on the market with the long guarantees, insulation values, construction advantages and low maintenance that Polypool offers.

Our lifetime manufacturers warrantee and global patent on the product speaks for themself.

Polypool is durable, easier and cheaper to build, simpler to maintain and more energy efficient than any other pool system on the market.

If reducing your carbon footprint and being friendlier to the environment are important to you then trust the experts and make your pool a Polypool.
