River Club Health and Fitness Centre - Old Malden Surrey
The Brief
The aim was to provide a cost-effective leisure facility for a private members health club. The emphasis
was on a cost-effective package for all year round usage incorporating a 17m swimming pool as well as a
steam room and sauna. Polypool were appointed to supply the design, management and construction of
the project.
The requirements were as follows:
• 17 metre heated swimming pool with 1.5m constant depth
• Telescopic enclosure
• Underwater lighting
• Pool surround
• State of the art filtration, environmental control and chemical dosing systems.
• Sauna, steam room and changing/shower facilities
Specification
In order to deliver the demands of the client’s brief we incorporated into the design a number of revolutionary products and systems as follows:
• 17m heat-retaining Polypool system
• Heavy duty Alkorplan on-site welded liner with mosaic pattern finish
• Intermark telescopic polycarbonate enclosure
• Slip resistant tiled pool surround by Kerastar
• Heatstar “Phoenix” environmental control unit complete with air supply ducting
• Astral Pool filtration system comprising of two 1400mm bobbin wound filters and two 3.5HP filtration pumps.
• Eclear Technologies 100% chlorine free water treatment system.
