DIY Private Outdoor Pool - Thorpe Bay Essex
The Brief
As with a large number of DIY pool packages sold by Polypool this project was undertaken by a family using their own resources. The client approached us with a view to incorporating a medium size outdoor
pool in the rear garden of their semi-detached property in Essex. This had to be achieved cost-effectively whilst offering a manageable and practical solution. The requirement was to specify, manufacture and
supply a self-build option combining a complete Polypool system with cost-effective pool water heating. This was even more crucial due to the fact that gas or oil were not available on site. An electric heat pump
combined with the heat-retaining Polypool system offered the best solution. The emphasis was on providing a comprehensive technical support package to assist the customer throughout every stage of the
project. The customer sourced the raw materials locally and drafted in a small amount of help from local contractors to complete the installation.

Testimonials
Just thought I would drop you a line to say how pleased we our with our Polypool. The heat retaining panels are definitely doing their job! We are very impressed how warm the water is in the mornings especially when
the air temperature has been quite cool overnight. The heat pump is extremely efficient and soon gets the pool back up to 28 degrees. In the recent spell of warm weather the heater is only needed to on for an hour or so, one morning it didn’t one on at all. We’ve estimated that the running cost of the heat pump is around £1 a day. This is based on running it for seven hours if needed. We foresee that in the height of summer we will not need to heat the pool much at all due to the heat retaining panels along with the solar cover. One hot day a couple of weeks ago I took off the solar cover at 10.30. The pool temperature was 29 degrees. At 2.30 I checked the thermostat and it read 30 degrees. The boys go in practically every day after school and at weekends it’s like a mini holiday, the boys playing in the pool and I blob around on my lilo. For nine months we researched and viewed all different types of pools and the Polypool system beat all others hands down.
Thank you for all your help and advice over the past six months.
